Through a multi-disciplined approach, and drawing on over
a hundred years experience within the water industry, Biwater is capable
of bringing a tailor-made package of knowledge and expertise to any size
of project.
With key activities based in the north west of England Biwater has an
international pedigree operating from a number of strategic locations
in the UK with representation overseas, enabling us to bring a cost -
effective solution to any project.
With over 650 experienced staff to draw on, including engineers from all
major engineering
disciplines, Biwater can support clients at all stages of the development
cycle.

Data
Management and INMS (Integrated Network Management System)
Biwater provide the skills for collecting and managing
data related to databases, GIS records and technical knowledge,
applying verification and analysis. This work can be carried out
in a standalone basis or in conjuction with other activities.
GIS/
GPS Related Field Activities
Biwater provides fieldwork support to the office
based data management activities. Our in-house skills go beyond
the collection, recording and updating of feldwork data, and include
10mm XYZ accuracy site surveys which can be directly linked to clients
GIS records and data sets and provide a comprehensive analysis service
for performance reports on any geographic information system.
Biwater also offers a wide variety of surveying solutions for the
engineering and construction industry. Using the most advanced equipment
and highly trained staff, we can offer a cost effective solution
to any surveying need.
Leakage
Management and Detection
Biwater supports its field based Leak Detection
Service with office based DMA set-up, audit and pressure management
skills. This service can be provided at strategic level or day to
day maintenance level.
Biwater's leakage engineers are trained and equipped
to achieve such accuracy in leak location, to enable repairs to
be effected with the minimum of evacuation and disruption. We are
able to achieve such high levels of performance through our use
of the latest technology, and our professionally trained staff who
are reinforced by our own performance monitoring software.
Biwater have developed their own software for Leakage
Detection Information Management ystems and Water Asset management
Equipment Stock control/ hire which are available to external clients.
Network Modelling
Biwater offers expertise in network analysis to:
Facilitate hydraulic analysis and indicate low
pressure areas
Provide real time simulation of a dynamic system
through a range of conditions and provide operational data
Provide the means to generate an information
database of all assets i.e: material, age and size of pipework;
records of all incidents e.g. water main bursts can be recorded
to enable 'trend' analysis of asset performance
Provide the basis for asset management planning
Analyse the implications of population growth
Investigate the causes of water quality complaints
Develop a programme of mains reinforcement
Optimise investment in underground infrastructure
Mains
Rehabilitation Planning and Water Quality Modelling
Biwater Planning has undertaken studies to determine
the rehabilitation needs of many major cities throughout the world.
Each city has required a significant investment in its underground
asset in order to achieve required standards of service. Each has
faced the challenge of making that investment from a starting point
of little or no information on their assets and conditions.
Drainage Area Studies
Biwater offers water companies and environmental
agencies consultancy services for:
Prioritisation of sewerage deficiencies in accordance
with client's specification
Drainage Area Plans
Combined sewer overflow survey, assessment, cost
effective design of outline and detailed solutions
Structural assessment of sewers with cost effective
solutions to identified deficiences
Flooding identification, assessment, and provision
of cost effective solutions
Catchment capacity for new development
Asset Management Planning (AMP)
Drainage
Flow Surveys
Sewer flow surveys can provide significant benefits
to water companies and drainage engineers. Data from such surveys
can be utilised for drainage area planning and hydraulic model verification.
Flow surveys are also carried out for CSO and pumping station assessment,
along with trunk sewer and sea outfall flow measurement.
Surge Analysis and Pressure
Testing
Biwater use the FLOWMASTER variable wavespeed transient
hydraulic modelling system. This not only produces a powerful means
of obtaining surge pressure results but also allows the engineer
to test drive the system and identify operational problems.
